After a 3 hour train ride in a new and very comfy train we arrive to Vienna. Here, the weather is pretty much the same as Budapest: chilly and gray but, it was misting so we had the sensation that the weather was colder. No short sleeves and sunglasses for us anymore. :(
Walking around the center, you can immediately see the diffference from Budapest. Vienna is smaller but taken care of much more. As in Budapest, there are a million grand buildings and monuments but here they are all in perfect shape and sparkling clean.
Expensive shops (two big Swarkovsy shops within two blocks) with their expensive people line the streets as you walk down them. Everything is at a higer level here, including the horses. They dont just have some old horse blanket to keep them warm.....no, no, nothing but GORE-TEX for them. If a human jacket costs a fortune, I cant imagine the price of the horse's.
As you can imagine, all of the buldings were impressive but some of the ones that really stick out are the opera house and the town hall. (photos below)
Summarizing: Vienna is a place to come and spend time and money. There are countless palaces that are now museums, concerts, theaters, coffee houses (were you can have a wine or coffee for a not so cheap price and stay for hours and enjoy a book, newspaper, conversation, etc.) All of these things to enjoy with a little more time and more money.

Despues de 3 horas en un tren muy nuevo y comodo, llegamos a Viena. Aqui el tiempo es bastante parecido al de Budapest: gris, y fresquillo. Ah, y con chirimiri, asi que la sensacion es de frio y de invierno.
Paseando por el centro, se aprecia bastante diferencia con respecto a Budapest. Es mas pequena, pero esta mucho mas cuidada. Tambien tiene un monton de edificios monumentales y todos ellos estan perfectos y muy limpios. Tambien hay un monton de tiendas de marcas caras (Ejemplo: Swarovsky tiene dos en unos 50 m, las dos grandes y con unas cosas que, por lo que brillan, tienen que ser caras, carisimas. Perdonad si la informacion es demasiado simple, pero ahi es hasta donde llego con estas cosas...). Y bastante mas gente por la calle, asi como si estuvieran de compras y de vinos (bueno, perdon, de cervezas que aqui es lo que se bebe mas). Todo esta muy cuidado. Incluso los coches de caballos, a los caballos, en cuanto empieza el chirimiri (que para nosotros ha sido siempre), les ponen un abrigo de "Gore-Tex"...
Muchos de los edificios monumentales son museos y otros cuantos teatros, La Opera (imponente e impresionante)... Aparte, por supuesto, de la catedral y unas cuantas iglesias. Incluso el edificio del Ayuntamiento: cuando lo vimos desde un poco lejos, creiamos que era otra iglesia, pero no. No me importaria ser el alcalde de este ayuntamiento...
Y otros edificios emblematicos: el teatro en el que se hace el concierto de Ano Nuevo y el "Konzerthaus", sede de los "Ninos Cantores de Viena" (como su propio nombre indica...). En resumen: recomendable visita (si es con buen tiempo, mejor) para venir con dinero para visitar museos e ir a conciertos de todo tipo, especialmente de musica clasica, claro. Y para cenar en los tipicos "Cofee House" y en otros que son como especializados en vino, de cuyo nombre no me acuerdo... Aqui os dejamos algunas fotos, para vuestro mejor entendimiento.

| As it was misting, we sought refuge in the Universtiy for lunch. Warm building, bathrooms and coffee machine.And the best part, no one looks at you strange for being sprawled out on the floor with a sandwich and a beer. Como el chirimiri no paraba, no refugiamos en la universidad para comer. Un sitio caliente, banos, y maquina de cafe. Y lo mejor, nadie te mira raro por estar tirados en el suelo con un bocata y una cerveza. |
